  3. Thank you for your interest in joining Rustafied! This thread will provide you with the basic information you need to get the ball rolling. A little about us Rustafied started the same week "Experimental Rust" servers were released to the public. Bugs set out to host the best community servers around. In addition to the servers, he also started which highlighted all changes to the game and hosted the best guides around. In a short amount of time, the name Rustafied became synonymous with quality among the Rust community. In December of 2015 Garry Newman approached Bugs and asked if he would like Rustafied to be listed as an official server and oh boy, have things blown up since then. Over the past years we have grown tremendously thanks to our amazing community and dedicated staff. Rustafied has around 40 people on deck at any time doing a little of everything; voice acting, artwork, moderation, programming, writing, and so much more. We look for the best of the best to help make this community the best it can be. Ya think you got what it takes to be a member of the Rustafied Crew? How we work Rustafied is comprised of 5 teams which take care of different aspects of the organization. North American / European Moderation - These two teams take care of moderation on our servers. Community Team - This team runs events, produces media, manages community tasks and helps set the tone for the face of Rustafied. This is where you will find the video editors, artists, musicians and other creators. Operations Team - The Ops team handles the internal areas of Rustafied such as comms, inner office politics, recruitment, and most HR concerns. Systems Team - Systems handles sensitive aspects of Rustafied. Some of those aspects are server maintenance, the VIP system, and programming. FAQ How do I become a Moderator? There are two steps involved in joining our Moderation team, first you'll need to join the Rustafied Crew (See below). If you can get your foot in the door, we will move you on to the next step. How long does it take to become a Moderator? We don't mess around when it comes to who determines bans here. For most people it will take around 2-3 months before you are considered a full Moderator. Is this a paid position? Almost all Rustafied positions are on a volunteer basis including moderation. What kind of time commitment are you looking for? We ask all staff to be around at least 3 hours a week to be considered active. Though we are laid back as hell, if you have IRL stuff, get busy with work/school, or just need some time away it's cool. Joining Rustafied To get the process started, you will want to follow the link at the bottom of this post which will take you to our recruitment system. Fill it out and give us some time to review. Keep in mind that we are very picky with who makes the cut. If you don't hear anything in two weeks, don't take it personally. We get a ton of applications and inquiries to join so even slight blemishes can be disqualifying. If you're really determined, feel free to submit another application after a couple months, hell we may have just been fully staffed when you applied.   4. Hi all! So the long and short of today is that a recent update for Rust opened up a zero day exploit on ALL Rust servers. At around 1:15 EST reports starting coming in from Rustafied servers regarding items being spawned in mass, as we moved into "damage control" mode reports began to come in from other major servers experiencing the same issue. Garry and friends managed a hotfix that was rolled out at 5:40 today which fixed the exploit. However the damage has been done. Other server owners will respond in various ways I am sure, but it has always been the Rustafied motto that game play comes first. That game play element was compromised on 4 of our servers which we were able to fix with a simple roll back. Unfortunately EU Medium was forced into a full wipe due to lingering security concerns.   6. In honor of legacy finally dying, I gotta say my favorite feature of the game was the sheer randomness of it. Back when Rust was a truly hopeless landscape and most people just ran around doing random shit hoping to randomly stumble across a lucrative opportunity. The door preachers, rad town camps (not walls), those lunatics who ran around screaming into the mic non stop, the lone mother fucker with nothing but a p90 and a dream. Now we spend hours farming to build an insane base to protect what we spent hours farming for. We spend all our time in what I like to call "The Helk Cycle". So for me, it's the RP, what little of it is left. I salute those of you still acting like the lost and scared Newman that you are going into 2017!

  8. Hey guys, just a quick update that the issues we were seeing appear to be persisting into today. FacePunch is aware of the issue and is working on a resolution. In the mean time we are attempting to bring each server back up as they go down, however given the frequency of this (5 times an hour at its height) there may be some extended down time. We are working to minimize this the best we can but we are expecting this to continue across all servers (Rustafied or otherwise) until FP manages a fix.

  10. This. there are options which don't involve using Oxide or other direct mods but there are issues preventing us from utilizing them. However this topic is on our radar and something we discuss fairly often.
  11. Hah, I actually remember this twitter post from a few months back. "Disabled rain colliders (perf) - Garry" I was like "hold up, a roof is a collider, IT RAINS INDOORS NOW O.O" TLDR of it is that Unity can't handle the current weather system Rust has without crapping the bed so FacePunch disabled it for the time being for FPS sake. The guys at Unity tend to respond pretty well though, wouldn't be surprised if this was fixed soon.
  12. Hey guys, i'm back from hiatus! Fresh off the bus, I am already getting a ton of questions regarding whats going on with our public TeamSpeak server. Long and short of it is that the new server is available here however we will no longer be creating private rooms for clans. We will be using this TS for the foreseeable future. The longer story (for those of you without A.D.D.) is that we switched to Discord a couple weeks ago. Our TS was getting insanely cluttered (~140 channels, 70 players average) not to mention getting hit with constant DDOS attacks. In addition we are all of the opinion that TS is a bit antiquated so moving on seemed to be a good option. Where we failed at was not informing the public of this change. This was an operational oversight and I apologize for those of you who were affected by it. We ran into a second hurdle about a week after TS went down when we conducted our weekly meetings and roughly 3/4 of people had technical issues, quality issues, or crashes. So the decision was made to deep six Discord and return to the tried and true horse. Our new TS is more refined, organized and most importantly protected from the average 12 year old's ability to DDOS! For those paying attention there are now Rustafied Member rooms, but I'm not quite ready to announce anything about that just yet =)
  13. Yo Jon, welcome back m8! We've been wanting to switch to Discord for a while now and ofc as soon as it gets the green light we start seeing huge problems with it. We'll be sticking with TS for now, but will be trying to avoid the clusterfuck that was 100+ channels. And for nostalgia sake's =)
  14. Image is dead on with his points. Despite our official status, we don't have any hard ties with the devs. To FacePunch's credit, they do a pretty good job of considering feedback like this. It may not always make it into the game, but they listen which is a lot more than you can say about many other developers. As far as the wipe cycle goes, Rustafied Main has always pushed the limits of what the server (software) can handle. Our current intention is to continue to increasing both the population cap and wipe cycle as high as the game will allow. With the way development is currently going, my guess is well be waiting until major content patches take a backseat to optimization in term of prioritization. Or Unity steps their game up, whichever comes first =)
